Let every American, every lover of liberty, every well wisher to his posterity, swear by the blood of the Revolution, never to violate in the least particular, the laws of the country; and never to tolerate their violation by others.

As the patriots of seventy-six did to the support of the Declaration of Independence, so to the support of the Constitution and Laws, let every American pledge his life, his property, and his sacred honor; let every man remember that to violate the law, is to trample on the blood of his father, and to tear the charter of his own, and his children's liberty.

Let reverence for the laws, be breathed by every American mother, to the lisping babe, that prattles on her lap; let it be taught in schools, in seminaries, and in colleges; let it be written in Primers, spelling books, and in Almanacs; let it be preached from the pulpit, proclaimed in legislative halls, and enforced in courts of justice. And, in short, let it become the political religion of the nation; and Let the old and the young, the rich and the poor, the grave and the gay, of all sexes and tongues, and colors and conditions, sacrifice unceasingly upon its altars.

While ever a state of feeling, such as this, shall universally, or even, very generally prevail throughout the nation, vain will be every effort, and fruitless every attempt, to subvert our national freedom.

Jon Stewart: Our Last 100 Days

I loved this segment! Jon's initial reaction to the news of the flu -- exactly how I felt. Pretty sure this is the first time in my life that I've ever been pissed off over a flu outbreak... or maybe its the media coverage. And nobody exposes the ghouls in the corporate media quite like Jon Stewart.

Lincoln, I believe, would have loved this show. Humor, politics... and surgical satirizing of the more ridiculous elements in our society, especially our media. I didn't get around to posting this after I saw it because I was out of town... but its never too late to remedy that!

Jon Stewart: Obama's first 100 days (of media circus)

I am so grateful to Jon Stewart: he apparently watches this mindless media drivel so that the rest of us don't have to.

Jon Stewart: The Cramer Take-down

And now the moment we've all been waiting for... Jon eats Cramer's lunch (after feeding him a steady diet of his own words.)

Stewart is no longer just a fake newsman and comedian; he is a national voice of conscience. I love it when he rips the corporate media for their BS.

Take-down accomplished.

Jon Stewart: The Week in Cramer

Ah, what a week it has been! Culminating in an epic Jon Stewart take-down (I'll get to that in the next post.) But first... the week in Cramer.

Jon Stewart: About that speech...

I meant to post these last night -- good stuff.

I too was a bit distracted by the way Nancy Pelosi kept popping out of her chair after every complete sentence. My husband and I finally decided that Joe (Biden) had secretly installed an ejector cushion on her seat, and was entertaining himself during the speech by launching Nancy into the air, higher and higher, perhaps to see if she would eventually stick to the ceiling (I'm relieved to say that she did not.)

First, President Obama's speech to Congress (complete with a cameo by Jimmy Stewart)

Secondly, the GOP's Mr. Roberts retorts:

Jon pretty well sums it up

Thank you Jon

... because I too was beginning to wonder if we 'little people' were the only suckers actually paying our taxes. Tim Geithner? Tom Daschle?

Is there anyone available for Mr. Obama's cabinet that has, um, actually paid their taxes recently? Geez guys.

By the way, Tom Daschle just asked President Obama to withdraw his nomination. He probably would have made a good Secretary of Health and Human Services. Except that he screwed up on his taxes. Now everyone loses.

Jon Stewart addresses the GOP Stimulus plan

(Er, what plan? OH... that's right... tax cuts again. Yawn.)

Why does the GOP hate us?

We need jobs, infrastructure, schools, jobs, health care we can afford, jobs, a green energy grid, jobs -- we the American citizens who live here on a day to day basis (not the wealthy bankers the GOP was happy to pay off for their epic failure - no strings attached and sure, buy that jet you've been wanting) need all of these things. And we pay the taxes that fund these things. We pay for this stuff -- why can't we get it?

What will it take to GET THE GOP OUT OF OUR WAY?

The Daily Show: Six Days and Seven Nights

Jon is going to milk this final week for all that it's worth. (And W is going to give him more material than he's had in months, handed on a golden platter.)

This film footage is truly amazing.

No wonder the nation is in shambles (and every portion of the world we've touched.) I found W's comments about Katrina especially galling. I suspected the man was a sociopath. Now I'm sure of it.

The Daily Show: Real Americans

It was impossible to pick just one of these videos: every one was a classic.

Well I certainly watch the Daily Show, so I'm very obviously not a 'real American.' Hmm... this could have some advantages (tax advantages especially.)

Perhaps some new lyrics to that annoying 'Proud to be an American' song are in order; for all of us who have been kicked out of the Real America:

Guess I'm proud to be un-American
Sarah Palin set me free
All this time I thought I lived here too
And the word applied to me
Now I'm glad to stand up, free and clear
Much relieved to finally say
That its not my fault... its gone to hell...
And the debt's not mine to pay!
